Spring Soccer

It is amazing just how far Connor and Colin have come in the last 10 weeks with playing soccer. On the first day, Colin didn't even want to play and after fifteen minutes, came over in tears begging to not have to play. Brian walked him back to his team and said, "you don't have to play but you have to stay with your team until the game is over." So he didn't play but he stayed with his team and by week three he knew the rest of the boys on his team and wanted to stay with them but still didn't love being in the game. By week five he loved playing and quickly became one of their best players. Their last game he scored half of the points for the team! (I have to smile as I say that since they only scored 2 points to yellow's 5 but still he scored one of the two!) He admitted as he left the field that he liked being the best player on his team. What a difference 10 weeks make :)
Connor's still the fastest on the field and has finally started to pay attention to the game he's playing. (He minds tends to wander to other things even when he's on the field...it's pretty funny!) On the first day he played, he stayed as far away from all the commotion around the ball as he could but now he gets in the middle of it and is a really good defensive player. He seems to have a knack of knowing where the ball is going to be and has made some amazing saves for his team. He also made a goal on the last game so both boys left feeling like heroes! I really liked both of their coaches and it was really a fun way to spend our Saturdays.
